We signed up for a 300 level trail ride with others. The night before the area got heavy rain storms so everyone but us cancelled (not sure why off roaders were afraid of wet conditions!). Despite that Scott and Sam did not cancel on us, and instead gave us private trail driving instruction. What an awesome experience, and we definitely valued the one on one teaching and tips, with a focus on how to control speed and chose lines so that you don’t get stuck, don’t destroy the environment, and also preserve your vehicle. NORA tours provide adventure in a group setting as our instructors lead the way. These tours are offered as single or multi-day trips to various venues in New York and the Northeast. This is a great way for off road enthusiasts with varying levels of experience to legally drive off-road and experience their vehicles capabilities. Whether its driving at private venues, off road parks or overland trips, going off-road is safer in groups. We also offer passenger ride-along tours at our Ellenville location.

Hunter Mountain Driving Tours are available on a public group schedule from May thru October on select Saturdays and Sundays. These family friendly events do not require any previous off-road driving experience but vehicles must have 4-Low gearing and recovery points. ‘Factory fresh’ and modified (lifts, bigger tires, etc.) vehicles are welcome. These tours are a great way to learn about and enjoy your 4×4 street legal vehicle’s off road capabilities. NORA staff are with you the entire day guiding, informing and contributing to a fun experience Pick your date and register online or contact us for a private booking (for your own 4WD and select AWD vehicles).

Coach & Drive training tours are 3 to 4 hours of trail driving and held at various locations with a NORA instructor in the lead vehicle in a “Follow The Leader” format. Terrain is a mix of beginner & intermediate (Green & Blue trails) depending on the location for street-legal vehicles with 4-Low. Instructors stop at various obstacle locations to help guide and provide teaching moments to keep the group moving. While this is not a recovery specific class, NORA instructors are there to lead any needed recoveries, especially in wet/low traction conditions. Registration is open to all. Prices are for the NORA fee only, additional venue fees may apply. NORA Trail Pass members receive a discount on the NORA fee. A minimum # of registered participants is needed to run each Coach & Drive.

Overland Excursions (New Hampshire) are educational, informative and fun driving adventures! Trips start in NY and avoid highways in favor of scenic back roads, dirt roads, trails and points of interest. Trips include camping at public campsites or private venues each evening. Stops may include covered bridges, short hikes to waterfalls, and charming small towns where supplies can be replenished. All trips are open to vehicles with 4-LOW.

Overland-Lite Trips (Hudson Valley / Catskills) are new for 2026! These trips include a few hours of both on-road and off-road driving while visiting places of interest in NORA’s own backyard region. These trips explore the areas’ wealth of history with an option to attend the entire trip or any single-day. More details will be posted in March 2026.

Passenger Ride-Along is a fun, low-speed and educational ride-along adventure to get your adrenaline pumping! Your NORA driver navigates steep hills, tight forest trails, rocks and ledges on our 75-acre rugged terrain training center in Ellenville, NY. Available as a 90-minute or 2-hour adventure for up to 4 passengers per NORA vehicle.
