NORA’s Overland Excursions are educational, informative and fun! Trips avoid highways in favor of scenic back roads, dirt roads, trails and points of interest including covered bridges and charming small towns where supplies can be replenished or where you may choose a restaurant meal to be enjoyed. Each night includes camping at campgrounds or private venues with comfort stations. Participants are welcome to make their own lodging arrangements if they prefer, registered participants will be given the exact location for each overnight.

This trip is guided by NORA staff and our friends at Exploring New Hampshire.  Two campgrounds have been reserved (VT and NH) for the overnights. The terrain includes easier (green rated) trails each day and is open to stock or modified vehicles with 4-LOW and front/rear recovery points, and select AWD vehicles with front/rear recovery points.

New to off-road driving? Consider a NORA public or private training class before your trip.

Itinerary: Can’t attend all days? Contact us to customize your arrival/departure dates for this trip.
Thursday: Registered participants meet at Hunter Mtn Ski Resort for a private morning off-road drive (Optional lodging is available at Hunter’s KMC lodge for Wed night). By afternoon, we are heading via backroads to our first campsite in Vermont.
Friday: Enjoy paved back roads, points of interest, and trails. We arrive at our New Hampshire base camp late afternoon.
Saturday: Points of interest, trails and Mount Washington. Join the group for an optional drive to the summit (fees additional) on the auto road or book your own optional train ride on the Cog Railway (tickets purchased separately). You may choose to explore on your own with a suggested visit to North Conway (a 45-minute drive from the mountain’s base) with attractions including the Weather Discovery Center and the Mount Washington Observatory Museum which runs an interactive science museum. Our last overnight will be at our New Hampshire base camp.
Sunday: Trails in the morning. The trip ends in the early afternoon at a major roadway to make your way back home.
